ASRA Pain Medicine Takes Issue With United Healthcare Policy on Neuromodulation Treatments
ASRA Pain Medicine has joined with several other medical societies to express concern regarding the United Healthcare (UHC) Commercial Medical Policy, number 2021T0126FF, that designated safe and effective procedures as “not medically necessary.”
The procedures are neuromodulation treatments including dorsal root ganglion stimulation (DRG-S) and percutaneous peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS). Both of these treatments have a proven track record of safety and efficacy despite what the UHC policy states.
