For February’s installment of our Member Spotlight series, we highlight Christopher DiMeo, MD, nominated by Mary Hargett. Since 2005, Dr. DiMeo has been an assistant attending anesthesiologist at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).

Dr. DiMeo received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical College’s anesthesiology residency program. Following graduation from residency, Dr. DiMeo completed a regional anesthesiology fellowship at HSS in 2004-2005. After fellowship, Dr. DiMeo was invited to join the HSS attending staff.

“I wish to nominate Dr. Christopher DiMeo for the ASRA Pain Medicine Member Spotlight," stated Mary Hargett. "In addition to Dr. DiMeo’s role as an academic leader in our department, he has also served for several years as Director of Technology and Equipment. His responsibilities in that role include attending supervision of our anesthesia technician staff, assessing current equipment needs, evaluating new technology, participating in budgetary decisions, and overseeing all clinical equipment trails."

Dr. DiMeo started HSS’s Cadaver Lab Curriculum program for anesthesiology staff and has taught more than 125 fellows in monthly sessions for more than a decade. He belongs to several medical societies, including the American Society of Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine, the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society for Education in Anesthesia, the Society of Anesthesia and Sleep Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiology.
