Dr. Michael Herrick

This October, we highlight Michael Herrick, MD, nominated for our Membership Spotlight series by Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine (RAPM) Editor-in-Chief, Brian Sites, MD. Dr. Herrick is currently an associate professor of anesthesiology at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Dr. Sites calls Dr. Herrick “a prolific Associate Editor for RAPM, a fantastic Fellowship Director for the Dartmouth's Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship, [and an] amazing clinician and teacher.”

In 2007, Dr. Herrick received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He then proceeded to complete a clinical base internship, anesthesiology residency, and regional anesthesia fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

To complement his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Herrick is the program director of the Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship in the Department of Anesthesiology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He previously served as director of airway management from 2012-2020 and director of regional anesthesiology from 2013-2024 in the same department.

Dr. Herrick has been a recipient of several awards throughout his career, including the the David Glass Scholar Award in 2017, given to junior faculty members who maintain a tradition of academic excellence within the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth anesthesiology department.

Currently, Dr. Herrick is an anesthesia representative and faculty representative at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and a board member at the Prime Alternative Treatment Center. He is also an associate editor for RAPM and has been associate faculty for ASRA Pain Medicine meetings.
