ASRA Joins Multiple Societies in Endorsing COVID Chronic Pain Best Practice Guidelines

Apr 7, 2020, 22:23 PM by ASRA

ASRA is one of nine organizations that has endorsed new chronic pain best practice guidelines to assist those managing chronic pain patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidelines were published in Pain Medicine today, and an infographic is available below.

The guidelines offer a framework for pain practitioners and institutions to balance risk mitigation for health care providers and patients, conservation of resources, and access to pain management services. Risk mitigation, telemedicine, triaging, steroids, NSAIDs, and provider mental health are addressed.

ASRA Board Member Dr. Steven P. Cohen of Johns Hopkins and Dr. Friedhelm Sandbrink of the Veterans Health Administration discussed the new COVID-19 guidelines for pain management with Johns Hopkins' Dr. Shravani Durbhakula for her web show "Pain Rounds with Dr. D."
