After the revival of ASRA in 1975, there was a group of regional anesthesiologists who were keen poets, including Drs. Gale Thompson and Brendan Finucane as well as other ASRA board members. They would meet at the ASRA Spring Annual meeting and share their favorite poems. Dr. Phil Bromage was one of the most prominent members who attended, and Dr. Alon Winnie, a published poet, was also present. 

In an attempt to revive the ASRA Dead Poets Society, ASRA Pain Medicine News will publish several poems written by Dr. Gale Thompson. The following poem is the first one of the series. ASRA Pain Medicine News also invites interested readers to submit their poems.
