ASRA Resident / Fellow of the Year Award
Selection Criteria and Process
- The recipient must be an ASRA Resident / Fellow Member in good standing.
- The candidate must have made significant contributions to ASRA events or
activities related to Regional Anesthesia and/or Pain Medicine.
- The Resident Section Committee (RSC) shall seek nominations from the
membership in writing, and the nominee must agree to such a nomination.
- Solicitation for nomination will occur in December of the year preceding the
award and the nominations must be received by the first week of January of
the year of the award.
- Previous Society honors will not disqualify a candidate.
- The Resident Section Committee Chair, Chair-Elect, and Faculty Advisors will
select a candidate and an alternate from the list of nominations.
- The names of the selected candidate and the alternate for the award will be
presented to the Board of Directors for confirmation at the end of January of
the award year.
Exclusion Criteria
- Active Resident Section Committee Chair and Chair-Elect will not be eligible
for nomination.
Obligations of the Award Recipient
- Receive the Award at the ASRA Annual Spring or Fall Meeting.
- Provide an abstract of his/her CV for inclusion in the Meeting Program.
Obligations of ASRA
- Introduction at the Annual Spring Meeting by the President of ASRA or the
Chair of the Resident Section Committee or another distinguished individual.
- The Chair of the Resident Section Committee will give a brief presentation of
the awardee’s distinguished work performed in regional anesthesia and/or
pain medicine leading to this award.
- Presentation of a plaque/medal to the recipient.
- Availability of hosts to facilitate Awardee's attendance at the Meeting. This
includes a complimentary meeting registration and an economic class air
ticket.
Frequency of Presentation
- The Resident/Fellow of the Year Award need not be given annually.
