Research
The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine supports research related to any aspect of local anesthetics and regional anesthesia and their application to surgery, obstetrics and pain control. ASRA also supports research in acute, chronic and cancer pain. High quality outcome based research is currently a high priority focus.
The ASRA Carl Koller Memorial Research Fund has been increased to a total of $75,000.00 biennially to support clinical and laboratory studies related to any aspect of regional anesthesia and analgesia and their application to surgery. Priority will be given to innovative projects that address patient safety and outcome in regional anesthesia and analgesia. The purpose of the grant is to provide “seed money” to fund anesthesiologists and other researchers who are interested in this field. Application deadline for the upcoming award is August 31st 2010, with the award announcement in November of 2010 and funds starting January 1, 2011.
ASRA board of Directors has recently approved the creation of an award to fund research specifically directed at Pain Medicine. The aim of this grant is to fund outcome based research in Pain Medicine. Details of this award will be announced at the ASRA Fall Pain Medicine meeting in November 2010.
